Sandy Davis…..Original Fine Art Prints

Creative endeavors have always been a part of my life.
As early as elementary school, I aspired to be an artist and teacher
while studying at the Wyomissing Institute of Fine Arts.
After completion of a B.S. degree in Art Education,
I taught high school Art, retiring in June 2013, after 32 years in public education.
During this time period, I also completed a Master of Arts degree in Printmaking,
which fostered experimentation with aqueous media monotypes.
The aqueous media monotypes encompass hand-pulled original images,
printed on various handmade papers using Plexiglas plates.
The Plexiglas plates are painted with watercolor, allowed to dry, and then printed,
by rolling the plate with a sheet of dampened paper through a fine art printing press.
The pressure of the press and the dampness of the paper pull the image off of the plate.

Nature and garden themes have long been a focus of my work,
particularly in relation to the visual metaphors provided by the imagery.
Images of trees, flowers, plants, moths and butterflies have been chosen as symbols of natural growth
and movement to portray the delicate harmony that exists between contrasting elements in both nature and life in general.
The natural pigments and fibers of the handmade papers form the color and soul of each print to achieve an aesthetic balance.
All prints on handmade papers are one of a kind.
