Biography

Jane Albin, the daughter of a junior high art teacher, was raised in Windber, Pennsylvania.  A graduate of Parsons School of Design in NYC,  Jane worked for 10 years in fashion production and design.  With her husband Bob she started and ran their own children’s clothing company KatieCo Inc.   Designing children’s clothing was her passion for 17 years.

Currently, Jane and Bob own and operate the Tawsty Flower B&B in Lewisburg, PA.  Jane creates many paintings with a Lewisburg theme.

In 2012, she was selected for the plein air Artist’s Colony at the Gettysburg Festival.  Last year she took first place in the Quick Draw at the Gettysburg Festival.  She won the Artists’ Choice Award and first place for the Camp Hill Plein Air Quick Draw in 2013.

This year Jane again won First Place at the Plein Air Camp Hill Quick Draw.  She was awarded an honorable mention at the Westfield NY Plein Air Event and she was juried into the Finger Lakes Plein Air competition.   Jane was the featured artist for the downtown Lewisburg Sidewalk Chalk Festival.

Jane is an art instructor at the Y Art Center in Sunbury, PA.  She also teaches workshops at Brushstrokes Art Supply, Gallery and Framing and at the Packwood House Museum.

Artist’s Statement

Watercolors and oils are my preferred mediums.  I like to record the people and places around me.

I sketch daily and often create new challenges for myself.  Sometimes these challenges are frustrating,
but often they are magical.  I feel it is important to keep learning, stretching, and improving.
